Every Human Being is an Artist, and at the same time, Every Human Being is a Work of Art
Reflections From The Chair
It has become a tradition that chair of the board, Kevin Woolrodge, opens each AGM with a reflection. The 2024 AGM, held on November 1st, was no exception. Here is Kevin’s welcome address:
“The world lately seems like it's falling apart. Things are not great. Something I've been thinking about a lot is why dance? When the world is, as it is. What's the point? Why art? If you're going to ask that, you might as well also ask why community? Why growth? Why understanding? Creativity? Family?
More than ever, we need to understand what it means to be human, and to be a part of the world. I know I’m preaching to the choir by addressing a group of artists, but I think our sacred duty is to help people realize the truth: that every one of us, every human being, is an artist, and at the same time, every human being is a work of art. And if we can treat ourselves and others as such, and move through the world with that in mind, things will be much better. I think that's something that Untellable Movement Theatre does really well, nurturing and supporting; fostering that sensibility and furthering that understanding, that every human being is a work of art.”

A Call to Create
Kevin’s words serve as a reminder that we must continue to cultivate a shared understanding of humanity as inherently valuable and beautiful. In a world that too often forgets this, our role as artists becomes not only relevant— it is essential. Our “sacred duty,” as Kevin put it, is to reflect, empower, and lift one another.
So, we continue to dance. We continue to create. Not because we ignore the challenges around us, but because we know that art, in all its forms, holds a unique power to bring us together, to heal, and to remind us of the beauty we each carry within. Untellable Movement Theatre is here to foster that understanding, to help build a world where everyone feels seen as a work of art. And as we move through uncertain times, we hope you’ll join us— because art, like humanity, is something we’re all a part of.
