Movement Theatre Incubator

Join the Movement

Untellable Movement Theatre's Incubator aims to showcase the power of the body, enhance physical literacy, and inspire playwrights to incorporate movement as a fundamental element in their scripts.

The Incubator Program is dedicated to fostering innovative movement-based storytelling. We offer in-kind movement dramaturgy and a vibrant environment for play workshops, providing artists with a starting point to explore and develop world-building through movement. Whether you're refining a long-term project or developing a new piece, our incubator is designed to nurture your artistic growth and inspire groundbreaking performance art.

Since its inception, the program has expanded to include mentorship opportunities and partnerships. These additions reflect our growing commitment to supporting artists across disciplines and deepening the role of movement in ensemble-based theatre-making.

The Movement Theatre Incubator Program Offers

  • movement dramaturgy or movement mentorship

  • space in partnership with Lynn Panting Dance

In return, we ask for:

  • 3-5 process videos or photos from the workshop to be shared across our social platforms

  • print and social media acknowledgement when the piece is produced

Optional:

  • the opportunity to share your experience on our blog

Shakespeare by the Sea

Summer 2025

Untellable Movement Theatre is proud to partner with Shakespeare by the Sea to offer company classes to all participants in the 2025 season. As part of our Incubator program, these sessions will provide performers with tools for physical storytelling, ensemble-building, and embodied performance. Led by Lynn Panting and guest artists, the classes are designed to support the ensemble throughout the rehearsal process, strengthening connection, creativity, and confidence on stage. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to innovative training and the development of bold, collaborative theatre.

Jaimie Tait

Summer 2025

We’re thrilled to welcome Jaimie Tait to the Untellable Movement Theatre Incubator! This summer, Jaimie will be working alongside Lynn Panting as the Assistant Director on Love’s Labour’s Lost with Shakespeare by the Sea. Through this hands-on mentorship, Jaimie will explore how movement and ensemble-building practices can be woven into the fabric of theatre-making. Her work with Lynn will focus on the creation of dynamic physical storytelling, collaborative process, and building strong ensemble relationships from the ground up.

After graduating from the acting program at Studio 58, Jaimie began her career in theatre, focusing on performance, writing, and the creation of new work. Part two of her career found Jaimie transitioning into stage management, which she has been primarily doing for the past two decades. Most recently, Jaimie stage managed the production of Oderin at the Arts and Culture. Favourite past credits include: The Wild Rovers for Terra Bruce Productions, Tosca for Opera on the Avalon, O3ensive to Some for Persistence Theatre, Betro3enheit with Kidd Pivot, and Chelsea Hotel: The Songs of Leonard Cohen for The Firehall Arts Centre. Currently, Jaimie is re-emerging into the creative side of theatre and is thrilled for the opportunity to work with director Lynn Panting on Love’s Labour’s Lost with the Shakespeare by the Sea Festival as assistant director. Originally from Vancouver BC, Jaimie moved to Newfoundland tenyears ago and is now proud to call St. John’s her home.

“One of the unique opportunities of the Incubator was the opportunity to build movement in from the first workshop, and not treat it like an afterthought. To be able to find the movement in the text, where it was written, where it wasn’t, was such a gift because it allowed me as a first time playwright to lean into what I didn’t know about the script, and let the movement inform me.”
