Artist Residency 2024

Keely Whitelaw

Keely is an aerialist who took a back route into artistic movement through a life of sport. To make sense of the untellable meaning she finds above the ground, she is engaged in doctoral research of kinesthetic consciousness to find pockets of expression in technically restrained movement.

During the residency, she will be working to translate her aerial and climbing sensibilities to more horizontal planes and bring them to the particular craggy coast that has been moving her since her recent return to the island. She will also work with various film techniques to capture a plethora of perspectives such that the result weaves together elements that overflow a single vantage point, hoping to come closer to touching what it is to move with this raucous coast.

Keely will perform during the Mayflies Performance Series in collaboration with Greg Bruce and is a Mayflies Digital 2024 artist.

She was one of our original Mayflies Digital Artists in 2020 and again in 2021.
