About The Project

Newfoundland is a place of wind, rock, and waves. An untamed, breathtaking coastline. This piece is a dedication to that raw beauty, a hunt to capture three perfect moments in time, not in spite of the changeable Newfoundland weather but in harmony with it.

These three pieces are named for the three distinct shades of sunrise, but also for a more often overlooked beauty that is the rock beneath our feet. The ground that anchors us and gives us strength to reach toward the sky. Azurite, Eudialyte, and Sphalerite. All three are minerals found in the cliffs of our Rock, Newfoundland, and in each you will find a shade just as beautiful as the dawn.

This is your reminder to search out beautiful moments each day and take the time to exalt in them.

Azurite the Blue Hour

The pitch of night begrudgingly gives way to a deep midnight blue. The Sun is still far from the horizon but its powerful light changes the sky long before it appears. The air is silent, even the winds are calm, and yet one can feel the anticipation.

Eudialyte the Red Sunrise

A thin red line on the horizon explodes into a blinding kaleidoscope of pinks, reds, and oranges. The blue of night is washed away in a mesmerizing display of colour. The waves dance, the gulls soar, and the moment seems to last forever. On the brink of change, the world awakens.

Sphalerite the Golden Hour

A soft golden glow fills the air, seeming to permeate even the stone, bringing with it warmth and hope. A gentle breeze begins to play against the shore as the air itself is inspired to move. The potential of the day is limitless, the earth and sky connect. The time has come to leap, and soar willingly into the unknown.
